What is chair yoga?
Modified Yoga postures done while sitting in a chair.
Students are guided through a gentle sequence of movements which help improve the function, mobility and range of motion of the spine and other joints in the body. We stretch and release tension in tight areas such as shoulders, neck, sides of the chest, hips and lower back. Other exercises work to gently strengthen the shoulders, upper back, thighs and abdominal muscles. There is also an emphasis on the breath. The breath is linked with the movements which helps the body to relax and release stress and tension.
